Kenny Tooker Memorial 2008Thursday, October 16th, 2008 by MC |
Alex Barlow Legitimate 10.
The Second Annual Kenny Tooker Classic was held at Karge Street in Bay Head on October 11, 2008.
Here’s the scoop directly from the offical site:
“This is a Scholarship fund raiser. Last year there were two $500 checks given to PPBHS seniors and more is planned this year with this event. The criteria is for an average student academically, but someone who is an all around nice kid, just like Kenny was … and of course surfers will get a little special attention.
Those of us that knew Kenny, know he would really be digging the way this event is coming together. The outpouring of our community is great, but not surprising. Kenny lived each day with the Aloha spirit and that is something that will live on in all of us that were lucky enough to have crossed his path. This annual event will now remind us of our loss, but more importantly, what we gained by knowing him.”
According to third place finisher Dan Murray, The surf was flat in the morning, and it came up. Everyone had a ball.
