SD on a 5′2″

Although Shane-O’s ripping, it looks a bit sketchy.
All the same, just to keep up with the “Slaters”, I just ordered a 3′5″ x 28″ x 2″, 6 fin, Koala tail. It’s bright blue epoxy with kevlar mud flaps and the license plate reads “ScorzoSrf”.
Pretty soon, my surfboard will be smaller than Ty’s body board…go figure.

delaney-from-dos-wreckas

well…sort of on.

Needing a temporary reprieve from life above the surface, we made time to jump in the water at an inshore wreck earlier this week. Though the water was a nippy 50ish degrees and the viz was horrible, we had an absolutely fine time.

Nearing hypothermia, Delaney popped a fat 21 inch Tautog.  It was the only fish we saw on the wreck, but with 3 feet of vizability, it could have been one unlucky fish separated from many others hiding just out of sight. In my opinion, it’s a little cold for blackfish inshore.

It was great to be back in the water and diving, excited for the return of the Stripers and Tog, warmer water, and better viz to come.

Dr. Delaney is looking a lot like Bill Murray in his groundbreaking performance as Steve Zissou in Wes Anderson’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. He’d be perfect in the prequel as a young “Stevsie” cutting his chops as an unpaid intern.  Get him a speedo and a glock!

Life is a gift…

This Saturday is going to be one hell of a night in Asbury Park.

T-moccasin, the Mattison 2 and Ray Barbee and a killer surf movie on the big screen at the Paramount.
PLUS…
An encore performance by the Mattison Twins and Ray Barbee at the after party at ultra-rad Langosta Lounge.

The first ever “Squid and Beer” weekend addition will be sick and a cast of a thousand characters are expected to attend.

It’s going to be one of the best nights of the year. Don’t miss out.

Come early, stay late, enjoy the Present.

We’ve posted it before, but here is the trailer:

Squidforce! welcomes the legendary Jack Ryan to our virtual pages.

For those of you who don’t know, Jack is one of the top surf photogs from these parts. His work is regularly featured in ESM and he is responsible for the now defunct “Surfing the Garden State” calender.

In addition to surf photography, Jack shoots family portraits, weddings, sporting events, you name it.

To hire Jack, or if you’ve got a sweet apartment for rent, please drop him a line at jackryanphoto@gmail.com. (He prefers ocean front, but will consider any and all offers:)

Judging by the imagery, Shayne Boyle and his brother-in-law Chris Carhart scored near epic conditions at an overpublicized inlet in Northern Ocean County during a recent run of North swell.

Look for more ripping from Jack, Shayne and Chris as the spring season progresses. It’s gunna be a WHOPPER!
