A renowned videographer, Newport Wedge aficionado and avid surf fisherman, Tom is constantly experimenting with various high def cameras that take lots of frames per second. The resultant images are amazingly clear and vivid.
As I write, Tom is hunkered down somewhere in the OC (Ocean not Orange) editing his highly anticipated Wedge Documentary. I can not wait for that one.
A couple of non-digi photos taken in late summer of 2008.
“Guess who’s back?…
Back again…
Harri’s back, tell a friend.”
The always on, Godfather of NJ Surf Photography, Bruce “Harri” Chrisner has bucked up and purchased a brandy new Nikon D300. Bruce plans to read the manual cover to cover and be ready to document lower Monmouth County starting yesterday. Look for his images here and on other sites and publications as the spring progresses. Super stoked!
If he sees you, you better be charging, Harri’s camera tells no lies.
The collection is called Inshalla or “God Willing”.
Shaped by Mark Rabbidge, concept and design by Phillip George and the boards are beautiful.
Enjoy.

Somewhere between my toilet sittings and my garage I was introduced to the Marshall brothers. Trace and Chad were recently profiled in a TSJ “People” article, and due to Malibu being Malibu; the brothers are no longer unnoticeable. This video was found appropriately late at night, and profiles all that is Marshall. From the music, to the outfits, the main vein of the L.A/Malibu surf scene rides shockingly deep and twisted. The surfing is first rate, both in style and progression, but it’s all for fun. We are also introduced to the excess trimmings of Malibu: post party beach arrival, call outs, Kivlin, hair, beach goers, and a wealth like you wouldn’t believe. (I think) Trace does all the filming and editing, while Chad skims the top of pretty much everything. Just when you think they might be getting serious, or…taking themselves “too” seriously. We are given another Youtube posting that melts away at convention, and what the surf world posts as Post Modern. Hmmmm. As sheik as Alex Knost maybe, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Enjoy. CM (more…)
These boards are all the rage with the retro, groovy set.
I am not an expert in “hulls” and “not-hulls”, but the outlines remind me of a 7′6″ ish Gordon and Smith “Hot Curl” I owned as a grom. Could be time to add one to the quiver for R and D. Maybe I could compare and contrast rides on the new one with my memories of yore…One thing’s for sure, the new one won’t take half an hour to lug it one block to the beach.
This first clip is the trailer for the much anticipated film by Alex Kopps titled “Displacement”.
This a video shot by Jay Karpinski and edited by Olliegrind, Izzy Ortiz and John Hanusek. Music by Philladelphia band Stiffed. Singer in stiffed, Santi White is now known as Santogold. Enjoy.
