Hackensack Riverkeeper Annual Awards DinnerTuesday, September 30th, 2008 by JohnnyShred |
Polluted water makes the Squid Force sad. So, when we see group like the Waterkeeper Alliance protecting our water resources from polluters, it is inspiring. It makes us want to put on our ninja gear, grab our spearguns and stealthily find that guy that dumps 55 gallon drums of dioxin into watersheds.
But saving rivers such as the Hackensack is not dramatic and usually does not involve sneaking around in the dark with sharp objects. It’s hard work by good people, such as those in the picture who picked up that pile of garbage from the river bank, piece by piece.
To honor these good people and others, the Hackensack Riverkeeper is putting on their Annual Awards Dinner and Sustainable Seafood Fest. On October 16th, 2008, $150 will get you delectable treats from Whole Foods, including seafood from an unstressed fishery. Yum city.
