In this day and age of overblown media stereotypes, it is most certainly refreshing to find a legitimate and culturally sensitive depiction of the two very distinct surfing lifestyles that embody the East and West Coast surfing tribes. While focusing on the New Jersey and California surfing contingents, I think it’s safe to say that one could extrapolate both parallel coastlines of this great nation from these two representative groups. Without further ado, I give you a fine ethnographic depiction of the sport we all love so:

Hurricane Hanna visits the NJ Shore

A few times a year conditions come together and make New Jersey a great place to go surfing.

A long period south swell, offshore winds, warm water, warmer air and “Rock Star” lighting made the surfing and the pictures epic.
